Unix Administrator

As a UNIX Production Systems Support Analyst you will work on a very close knit and collaborative team and interface with a wide variety of technologies and systems including multiple UNIX operating systems, mainframe, VAX, multiple Oracle platforms, Weblogic and Java. You will work closely with software development and testing teams to resolve critical system issues.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor appropriate processes including application traffic file directories, error rates, CPU utilization and specific customer processing.
2. Provide accurate diagnosis of production issues/problems by analyzing data in log files, error rates and code releases. Issues could include production errors, slowdowns, outages, data discrepancies and anomalies in production processing.
3. Provide timely and accurate problem resolution by detailed research on specific applications.
4. Provide technical support and implement scripting changes if necessary to appropriate application.
5. Install and efficiently use debugging tools, back up tools and scripts. The programs are in various languages including UNIX, C++ and SQL.
6. Perform basic file and program editing.
7. Run specific marketing reports on request. The types of reports are dependent on particular application. Requires knowledge of standard desktop apps, database concepts and shell scripting.
8. Interface with development, marketing, quality control and production support groups on resolution of production problems.
9. Provide enhancements to support through automation improvement of process / development of new tools. These tools are utilities that can be developed to automate processes using UNIX scripting, Oracle SQL, TUXEDO, BEA Weblogic, DOS and Batch files.



Required Skills and Experience:

1. BS Degree or equivalent work experience is required. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics preferred.
2. 5+ years of UNIX experience and technical support experience is required.
3. 3+ years programming experience in C++, Perl or Korn Shell is preferred.
4. Knowledge of Unix OS shell scripting, BEA Weblogic, TUXEDO, DOS, Batch scripting and SQL programming in Oracle.
5. Must have experience in system monitoring and debugging.
6. Knowledge of Windows 2000/XP, OS Reflection X, Service Desk.
7. Ability to multi-task and capable of working closely with multiple groups with minimal supervision.
8. Ability to react calmly in a crisis situation.

Position Purpose
This position is responsible for leading the development for Legal SOAR projects. He or she must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written form with business partners and technical peers, must be able to organize developement resources, must be able to lead weekly development meeting, must be able to work with SMEs to close technical issues, must be able to clearly communicate issues and risks with the project manager, must be able to present project artifacts to the SRB, and must be able to fullfil the role of IT Lead within the MPR process. The Lead Developer has expert knowledge in multiple programming languages, databases and EAI. Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle. Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Must present ideas to review boards. The Lead Developer must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design. Ensures highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. Assists multiple team members and other
project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs. The Lead Developer must have the ability to view packages and products to
determine their viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas.

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

 

 

Performs analysis on medical, pharmacy, and eligibility files.  As part of a pricing team, will provide analysis of prospective clients’ data as a basis for proposals.  Perform research of new opportunities and follow up analysis for existing clients.  Work with clients and sales force in order to best meet their needs.

 

 

 

 

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

                   - Conduct special studies from internal and external customers to analyze complex claims, financial and eligibility data and prepares recommendations for action.

 

                   - Obtain, develop and enhance data sets to support the work of providing information to support business development/sales.

 

                   - Develop models to identify the factors associated with various outcomes, particular claims outcomes, and to provide an interpretation of such associations.

 

                   - Prepare and interpret analyses of data relating to healthcare insurance claims and healthcare related data.

 

                   - Prepare reports, briefing notes and presentations in connection with the duties listed above.

 

                   - Provide general statistical analysis and technical support in automating claims, analysis processes.

 

                   - Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.

 

                   - Establishes databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future proposals.

 

                   - Researches and prepares statistical reports on various subjects related to healthcare.

 

                   - Support the billing for the fee portion of division.

EDUCATION:

 

 

 

                   Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university in related field is required.

 

                   Information Systems, Computer Science or Mathematics preferred.

 

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

 

 

                   5-7 years of business Information Systems experience is required.

 

                   Healthcare/Claims experience required

 

                   Actuarial/underwriting experience a plus.

 

                   Minimum of 5 years of prior database administration experience to include: data modeling, database design, relational database administration and writing, tuning and enhancing stored procedures.

 

                   Prior experience with SQL Server technology required.

 

                   Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), Enterprise Manager, DTS, T-SQL, SQL-Agent, Job Scheduler required.

 

                   Three plus years experience working in n-tier client-server environment preferred.

 

                   Experience associated with HIPAA Privacy, Security and Transaction and Code set (X.12) standards, preferred.

 

 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
